Steve Clapp ’56 and four of his Peace Corps colleagues were nominated for the Sargent Shriver Humanitarian Service Award, which will be presented at the Peace Corps 50th anniversary celebration in Washington, D.C., according to a press release from the agency. One of their schoolboys in Yola, Nigeria in the early 1960s, Atiku Abubakar, rose to become the nation’s vice-president and has founded the new American University of Nigeria, in Yola.
