In her Wall Street Journal article, published June 28, reporter Melanie Grayce West quoted Richard Gilder '50 as saying that his time at the Northfield Mount Hermon secondary school was "the most meaningful experience of my life."

"I was from New York and I didn't know one person in the school. Not one," Gilder told the newspaper. "It was a wonderful period for me because I could meet all kinds of people and I became very close with a number of them."

Gilder, who made a $1 million gift to support NMH's arts program and theater. The 225-seat Rhodes Arts Center theater will be named in honor of Gilder's wife, Lois C. Chiles. Read the full Wall Street Journal story here.
