Andrew Wright MH '66, principal at NYC architecture firm Tonetti Associates Architects, has worked on a GHESKIO Family Health & Nutrition Center in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. According to a press release from the firm, Tonetti Associates Architects was enlisted by GHESKIO Clinic, a pioneer in the research and treatment of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Haiti, to design a new facility in an effort of expanding their services. The clinic will help treat the poorest of Port-au-Prince’s slums and inhabitants of the tent cities.
According to the press release, the center will be built by Haitians to provide nutritional guidance to new mothers, and integrate obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, adolescent, family planning and research within a single complex. The Tonetti Associates' design is organized around an open air pedestrian street and makes use of natural ventilation and the latest technology on earthquakes and hurricanes.
